DURANGO, Colo. (Reuters) - A Colorado judge ordered two teen-age girls to pay about $900 for the distress a neighbor said they caused by giving her home-made cookies adorned with paper hearts.

The pair were ordered to pay $871.70 plus $39 in court costs after neighbor Wanita Renea Young, 49, filed a lawsuit complaining that the unsolicited cookies, left at her house after the girls knocked on her door, had triggered an anxiety attack that sent her to the hospital the next day.

Taylor Ostergaard, then 17, and Lindsey Jo Zellitte, 18, paid the judgment on Thursday after a small claims court ruling by La Plata County Court Judge Doug Walker, a court clerk said on Friday.

The girls baked cookies as a surprise for several of their rural Colorado neighbors on July 31 and dropped off small batches on their porches, accompanied by red or pink paper hearts and the message: "Have a great night."

The Denver Post newspaper reported on Friday that the girls had decided to stay home and bake the cookies rather than go to a dance where there might be cursing and drinking.

It reported that six neighbors wrote letters entered as evidence in the case thanking the girls for the cookies.

But Young said she was frightened because the two had knocked on her door at about 10:30 p.m. and run off after leaving the cookies.

She went to a hospital emergency room the next day, fearing that she had suffered a heart attack, court records said.

The judge awarded Young her medical costs, but did not award punitive damages. He said he did not think the girls had acted maliciously but that 10:30 was fairly late at night for them to be out.

i have been trying SO HARD to be a good girl and read my Bible and actually PONDER what i've read every night, no matter how late i go to sleep... i am never tired when i'm actually reading it, and my sleep has been so wonderfully peaceful...

... but now my lack of sleep has caught up with me, and i keep crashing.

haha.  those sweeney weenies... yes, so as shown above, some random kids from Richwoods decided to go hang out at the mall and pose as members our old enemies from Notre Dame and see how stupid people were.... and got about a hundred signatures.

aaaaaaaaaah so much make up work at school today! but i did fine on my econ make up quiz that i ummm didn't read the chapter for! haa :) even so, my prediction is i won't make it through this grading period. :( *sigh*

ohmygoodness i am LOVING HOPE.  the hands thingy... it gets me so fired up for God :) yay!

everyone is sick today! total sadness... get well soon, all of you!

hookay... today jimmy and megan came over (my cute lil cousins!)! unfortunately, jimmy was mad sick...  and after i left and came back again, he was asleep on the couch and i was like... awwww what a cutie...

and then i got into a tickle fight with megan  teehee...\

i just realized that i was still in *friday mode* when i posted that last post.

the concert was ohhhmygoodness.  i fell asleep during all-state's performance (aiyah!)... but during the honors concert, i saw everyone AROUND me fall asleep.  ha! and i've always thought that choirs were inherently boring, but today... whoaa! they did this song with amazon sounds and i was like eeeEEEEEEee!  *excitement to the max*! aaaand so much more. but i am lazy so yepyep.

AAAHH some car totally crashed into the back of my mom's big 4runner! :( *owie.* but my mom was so nice to the person because he was an elderly man and she was like "ohh your car is too low to hit our bumper" (well it was) and she told the driver that as long as he was okay, that he shouldn't worry about it.
